Anti-dumping duty

Anti-dumping duty is an additional duty imposed by the EU on certain imports from specific countries. It is often charged at very high rates in an attempt to deter those particular goods being imported. It is intended to protect Community industry from unfair cheap competition from overseas, but it also often hits innocent importers.

 

The list of products under investigation changes frequently. Typical goods and countries include:

  • Aluminium foil from China and Russia
  • Bicycles from various countries
  • Bicycle parts from China
  • Ceramic tableware and kitchenware from China
  • Steel and certain steel products from a variety of countries
  • Aluminium road wheels from China
  • Ironing boards from China and Ukraine
  • Pipe fittings from China and Taiwan
  • Silicon metal from China
  • Solar panels from China
  • Certain polyester yarns from China
